See Again. Live Again.

The Transformative Work of Health in Sight Mission of Roatán

On the island of Roatán, access to eye care is nearly nonexistent for many. Health in Sight Mission of Roatán was founded to change that—one restored vision at a time. Since 2005, volunteer doctors, nurses, and compassionate partners have offered life-changing eye surgeries and care to those with nowhere else to turn. Each moment of regained sight means renewed independence, connection, and hope. It’s not just about seeing again—it’s about living again.

A Silent Crisis: No Eye Care on the Island of Roatán

In 2005, Roatán faced a heartbreaking reality: no access to eye care and an overwhelming number of residents living with preventable blindness. Cataracts, glaucoma, and diabetic eye disease were left untreated, robbing people of their independence and quality of life. Health in Sight Mission began as a response to that crisis, born from compassion and a belief that no one should lose their sight simply because of where they live. What started with a single screening of 280 people has grown into a mission of restoration, dignity, and human connection.

Your Giving, Their Vision: How Donations Are Changing Lives

Every gift makes it possible to reach more people across Roatán and beyond with vital, sight-restoring care. Donations have helped expand access to modern equipment, attract skilled ophthalmologists, and even make telemedicine a reality in remote communities. These advancements mean more patients treated, more vision restored, and more lives transformed. When you give, you’re not just funding care—you’re fueling hope.

They said, 'Don’t worry—we’re going to help you.' When I heard that, I came back to life.
