HISM goes to Utila.
Twenty years ago, Dr. Laurie Minton and her husband John dreamed of offering care to the less fortunate in a tent overseas. Mari dreamed of returning to her homeland, Honduras, for a mission trip. Both dreams came true inside a tent on Utila, a Honduran Bay Island, where Dr. Laurie, Mari, and her team provided the first eye care most people had ever experienced. Pastor John dedicated himself to caring for souls by sharing the message of Jesus’ saving grace. The people of Utila were warm, welcoming, and grateful. Pastor Brad generously shared his tent and his knowledge of the island and its people.
This team was small, but they gathered vision to bring back and share with their sponsor, Everyday Christian Fellowship church. Most were new to eye care and missions travel, but each person overcame their fears to serve with excellence and attention to detail. We’re excited to see what the next chapter holds for Dr. Minton’s service to the people of Utila.
